Fernbank Elementary School is a DeKalb County school. It has served the children of Atlanta since 1957 and is located in Druid Hills, a beautiful historic neighborhood in Atlanta.

Our school is a fully-authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. While our primary focus is on providing a quality basic education for all students, we strive to enhance the total education of each child with foreign language, art, music, physical education, and computer/technology literacy. Fernbank is also pursuing Advanced-ED STEM certification.

Important Reminders About Attendance

Regular attendance at school is a key factor to any student's success. Please be diligent concerning DeKalb County School System's attendance policies. School starts promptly at 7:40 am.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Now that we have the first few days of school under our belts, we are ready for some serious learning! As a reminder, if you're driving or walking your children to school, we ask that you drop off your child(ren) between 7:00 am - 7:30 am so they have enough time to get to their classroom by 7:40 am, when the last bell will ring. Patrols should arrive by 7:15 am so they may be at their posts by 7:20 am.
